In our second podcast, we wanted to explore a personal film, our Head of Design, Mike Brookes recently created called Before the Fall. We ask Mike why he made this film and what was his inspiration. It's really interesting to hear how so many different kinds of media and art flow into this, taking in video games, theatre, cinema, music, literature and of course life.
Some lovely takeaways from the discussion, mainly around how this is a great example of the 'Everything is a Remix' phenomenon and a lovely part at the end encouraging anyone out there creating something, whether a film, an animation, a blog, anything at all - stick with it. Keep making stuff. And do what you love for gods sake.
Here's the film (makes sense to watch before listening to the podcast!):
Mike Brookes - Head of Design
Hayley Akins - Senior Designer
Tom Kilburn - Designer
Robert Waddilove - Director of Content & Strategy
Below are some links to some discussion points related to the various forms of inspiration in the podcast. Hope you enjoy!
(I love how a Diet Coke ad and the Saul Bass title sequence for The Man with the Golden Arm has very similar music!)
